Child & Youth Programs

Child Development Center (CDC)

The CDC operates under the auspices of the Family Care Branch. Certified by the DoD and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the National Afterschool Association, the CDC offers nurturing, developmentally appropriate care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age on full-time, part-time, or drop-in basis. Professional preschool curriculum and learning programs delivered by a highly qualified staff foster the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of each child.

Childcare at the CDC is reserved for dependents of active duty military personnel, DoD civilians and contract employees, activated Reserve or National Guard personnel assigned to MCLB Albany and retirees. The CDC is located in Bldg. 7600 and operates Monday thru Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.  The center is closed on weekends and on all Federal holidays. Fees for all programs are set by the DoD and based on total household income. Additional fee may be associated when exceeding 10 hours of care a day.

The CDC is proud to offer one Pre-Kindergarten classroom funded from Bright from the Start with the capacity to serve 22 children. This free, first come, first serve program is open to eligible children who turned 4 on or before September 1 of the current school year. The program provides a challenging curriculum designed to promote school readiness. The classroom is led by a Georgia State Certified Teacher and an Assistant Teacher. The Pre-K Program operates from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily on the Dougherty County School System schedule. Extended day programs are available for families needing additional care before or after Pre-K hours.

The CDC also offers an accredited School Age Child (SAC) program providing daily childcare before and after school. This SAC program is a Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) affiliate and incorporates relevant learning, character and leadership programs within the curriculum.

Dynamic Holiday and Summer Camp Programs are also available to service family childcare needs during school  breaks. Summer Camp operates in conjunction with CDC hours and children can attend weekly or on a drop in basis. The activity calendar includes a busy schedule of field trips to local attractions,  movies, bowling and swimming. This program is available to children from 5 to12 years of age.

Sesame Street Drop In Room
Childcare at the CDC Sesame Street Drop In Room is reserved for dependents of active duty military  personnel, DoD civilians and contract employees, activated Reserve or National Guard personnel  assigned to MCLB Albany and retirees. The room is designed to support the overall mission of  MCFTB Children, Youth and Teen Programs and provides child care and related services to our  families. Drop In care is available for children from 6 weeks to 9 years of age. Care is provided at  a cost of six dollars per hour. Children must be pre-registered with the CDC.  Sponsors are required  to provide all necessary diapers, wipes and labeled bottles as applicable.

Standard hours for Drop In Room care are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Consideration for  changes to these hours will be made on an individual case by case basis. In order to make proper  staffing arrangements, a twenty four hour advance notice is required. Reservations for care can be  made by contacting the CDC Program office at 229-639-5765. Emergency situations arise without  notice and should be immediately directed to the CDC Director or Manager in charge for review and  resolution. The Director will take each emergency case under prompt consideration.

MCFTB provides Drop In care for base training classes upon request. These training classes are  offered free of charge to our active duty and deployed families. Child care services are also offered  free of charge during these trainings for families who attend. Child care will be limited to the hours of  the training/event time frame including a 30 minute window prior to and immediately following the  end of scheduled training/events. Any additional time will be charged to the sponsor. Reservations  for care must be made twenty four hours in advance by contacting the CDC Program office at 229-639-5765.

Drop In Room care space is limited. It is our goal to accommodate each and every child care request.   Please understand, however, that in high demand time frames such as trainings, traditional care  spaces may be limited.  A courtesy notice of cancellation is requested in the event that care is no  longer required.
